AltarPad

Worship pads you can play from a MIDI controller

AltarPad can be played and mixed from any MIDI controller your browser can see: a keyboard, a fader box, or a foot switch that sends notes or control changes. You assign each control yourself with a click, and the mapping is saved.

What you can assign

  • The keys: every piano key can play the pad key of its pitch, in its octave.
  • Major, minor and neutral, octave up and down.
  • Stop pad, start and stop of the chord sequence, and Stage Mode.
  • The five layer faders, low cut, high cut, reverb, crossfade time, tone, variation and master volume.
  • The rhythm section: on and off, style, tempo, rate, groove, pattern, octaves, level, attack and release.

How to set it up

  • Connect your controller and open AltarPad in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer.
  • Click MIDI at the top right and allow the browser to use your MIDI devices.
  • Click a control that has a blue frame, then move a fader or press a button on your controller.
  • Repeat for the other controls. The mapping stays on your device, and in your account when you are signed in.

Details that help on stage

  • Soft takeover: a fader only acts once it reaches the current value, so the sound does not jump.
  • Relative encoders work as well as faders with fixed positions.
  • Learn the first key and the following keys are assigned to the following notes.
  • Export your mapping to a file and import it on another computer.

Browser support

No. Safari and every iPhone and iPad browser lack Web MIDI, because Apple doesn't offer it to web pages. MIDI mapping works on a computer in Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Everything else in AltarPad works in Safari and on iPad.

Your MIDI data stays in your browser

The messages from your controller are processed in your browser only. They are not sent to us or to anyone else. Read the privacy policy for the details.
