AltarPad

A chord sequencer for worship pads

The AltarPad sequencer plays a loop of chords for you, so a solo leader can sing and play while the pad follows the progression of the song. Build it on screen, start it, and change it while it plays.

How it works

  • Choose the meter, 4/4 or 3/4, and a length of 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 bars.
  • Click a slot, then tap a key to put that chord in it. The next slot is selected for you.
  • Or drag a key onto a bar. In the middle it replaces the chord, at the left or right edge it adds a second chord to the bar.
  • An empty slot lets the previous chord ring on.
  • You can change chords while it plays. They are used the next time the slot comes around.

In time with your rhythm

The loop follows the tempo you set in the rhythm section, from 40 to 200 BPM. In 4/4 a bar has room for two chords, on beats 1 and 3. In 3/4 a bar has one chord, on beat 1. A highlight shows the bar that is playing.

Save it and share it

The chord sequence is saved with your presets and travels in the link when you share a sound, so a team member opens the same progression, sound and rhythm.

Good for

  • Solo leaders who want the pad to follow the song without touching it.
  • Practising a progression at home with the pad underneath.
  • Keeping a steady bed under a section while you move through a set.

You can start and stop the sequence from a footswitch or a button on a MIDI controller on a computer. For the sound itself, see free worship pads online.
